FAQ: General Info

What is PMD Outlaws and how do I join?

PMD Outlaws is a group with a focus on competitive storytelling in a wholly developed setting for the group with ARPG elements added in. Within, you will join one of 4 Factions as they traverse the continent of Tremel, sparring with one another for dominance. You may join the group at any time, it requires no approvals from Admins. Once you join, you must create a character using the Character application and subsequently a Team to take part in Mission, Events, and other activities with art and literature.

I got a comment on my Character application about something from an Admin, why?

If there are errors or elements within that do not meet the guidelines set within the New Member Guide, comments will be made. If not fixed within one month, the application in question will be removed and must be resubmitted.

May I make literature submissions if I make a character and team with Art applications and vice versa?

Yes, you may create works in any medium no matter the application you use first. Although, it is recommended that if you are starting out with a Literature application that you have an art reference of your character for others to use.

How mature can my content be?

As the group is PG-16+, general violence and blood is allowed but NSFW content is forbidden. For more specifics on what is and isn’t allowed, please check in the Rules and Guidelines.

Can I use art made by a different artist of my characters for my team's application?

It can be art from other artists, so long as you have explicit permission to do so. It is preferred you use art of your own, however, in the long run. Be mindful to credit the original artist and note that the application art is not of your own.

I’ve been harassed/bullied/targeted by someone. What can I do?

Please make a report via Note to the group. Include as many details you can, screenshots and other evidence is highly recommended. If multiple people are affected, evidence and testimony may be complied into one master post by a selected member for ease of communication.

Is it required to join the Discord server?

No, you do not need to join the Discord server to take part in PMD Outlaws. It is recommended however, as it is the best way to quickly speak to Staff with questions and concerns.

FAQ: Characters

Can I start with only one character out of the free two?

You may start with only one character and submit the second at any point in the future. Once you submit your second character, you must purchase all future ones.

Are there restrictions on which Pokémon can I start with?

You may start with any of the following combinations:

  • 2 Basic and/or Baby Pokemon

  • 1 First Stage and 1 Basic/Baby Pokemon

  • 1 Second Stage Pokemon

  • 1 Basic/Baby or First Stage

No Eggs or Pokémon under the age of 10 are allowed. None of the Factions are willing to take in children and send them into the wilderness willy-nilly. For specific Pokémon restrictions, see the Pokémon Restrictions | Artificial Pokemon and More journal. If you're unsure what these terms mean, consult the terminology we will be using for the stages of Pokémon, taken from the TCG below:

  • Basic (& Baby): a Pokémon that does not evolve from another; the lowest stage in a Pokémon's evolutionary line. Baby is specific to baby Pokémon, but shares the same definition as Basic. Examples include Happiny, Mimikyu, Comfey, Clauncher, or Gible.

  • First Stage: the stage that immediately proceeds Basic or Baby; the second stage in a Pokémon's evolutionary line. Examples include Braixen, Whimsicott, Gabite, Crustle, or Kirlia.

  • Second Stage: the stage that immediately proceeds First Stage; the third--and often final--stage in a Pokémon's evolutionary line. Examples include Garchomp, Torterra, Hatterene, Delphox, or Chandelure.

How do I get more Pokémon? Is it free?

It is not free. To obtain more Pokémon characters, you must purchase either a Wanted Poster for an Outlaw or a Guild Badge for a Lawmon. All Pokémon purchased through the shop start out as a Basic or Baby stage Pokémon. You may activate the item upon purchase or at a later date. Once activated, you link to it in the description of the new Pokémon you're bringing in.If you want to start with a First or Second Stage character, the process is the same as before (purchase a Wanted Poster or a Guild Badge). This time, alongside them you purchase an Evolution Token--2 of them if you want a Second Stage Pokémon. This also is how it works for Modified Pokémon (Mage, Delta, and Fusion).

How much can I change a Pokémon's design from its original?

Slight color changes to fur, highlights and eye color, adding tufts of fur or “hair”, having quadruped Pokémon walk bipedal, and interpretations of a Pokémon's size within reason are all allowed. Using a shiny, melanistic, or albino variant and colors from their previous evolution is also allowed. You may start with a Shiny Pokémon at any time. If you would like to change a Pokémon from any coloration to another, you must purchase and use a Bottle of Coloration Dye. This applies to making changes to your Pokémon's design outside of these standard coloration options as well.Making a Pokémon humanoid (kemono, gijinka, or realistic anthropomorphism), changing colors far from the original colors, and redesigning a Pokemon’s design drastically are examples of what is not allowed. If unsure about the legality of your design, you may Note the group or message in the #design-feedback channel on the Discord server and the Mod Team will make determinations on it. All variations on the normal color palettes of a Pokémon must be approved by the Mod Team.

What is the Minimum Age a Pokemon can be in the group?

Ten years old. That is the youngest any of the Faction leaders would be willing to recruit a Pokémon. Keep in mind that Pokémon--even at such a young age--are capable to defending themselves and by that age probably have been taught enough. Especially if they have a Disciple Mark, which they must have to join one of the four Factions.

Can Outlaws have one of the 5 Disciple Marks, and vice-versa?

Outlaws can use one of the 5 Disciple Marks in place of their Veracity Mark, or alongside it. In essence, it is to make a statement more than anything. Some are former common Pokémon with Disciple Marks that became Outlaws through sheer bad luck, their own hand, or other circumstances.Your character may start with a common Disciple Mark instead of Veracity if they are an Outlaw but there is a superstition that Outlaws who do not wear Veracity encounter bad luck.On the other side of the same coin, Lawmon can use one of the Veracity Marks in place of their Disciple Mark or alongside it. Most who do are former Outlaws who work as a Lawmon to pay for their crimes or have turned a new leaf. Some, however, are working as a Lawmon as spies and saboteurs. There are others still who wear the Veracity mark as a sign of support for the Outlaws.Your character may start with the Veracity mark if they are a Lawmon but those who wear the Veracity are stigmatized as criminals and/or supporters of the Outlaws.

Can I have personal NPCs outside of my team, or a NPC team from one of the factions?

You may have personal NPCs but they will not earn Auran if submitted within artworks or literature. They will also not count towards point totals in Missions and Events.

FAQ: Teams & Factions

What are the Factions?

The four Factions of PMD-Outlaws are as follows: the Blue-Spirit Outlaws, the Lexin Wayfarers, the Merchants Trade Guild, and the Emerald Enforcers. Your character must be in one of the four Factions to take part in all activities.

What are the Disciple Marks?

In Tremel, Marks of the 5 Teachings, otherwise known as the 5 Disciples, signify Pokemon who have completed testing to determine if they are prepared to explore the wilderness of Tremel while exemplifying their chosen Mark's way. Having a Mark is seen as a symbol of status. Some organizations require all applicants to have attained a Mark, such as the Trade Guild and the Emerald Society. Pokemon with a Mark get discounts on goods and are preferred when it comes to taking dangerous jobs but this has caused some resentment in recent years as more and more workplaces require a Mark...Outside the 5 Marks, there is one more that is well recognized: Veracity. This Mark is the symbol of Outlaws and is modified for use between the various Outlaw groups throughout the continent. The origin of its use by Outlaws is unknown but is considered taboo in towns and cities as it is the mark of an Outlaw or those who support them. For more information on the Disciple Marks, see the submission of the assets on DeviantArt.

How many Pokémon can be on a Team?

The current maximum number of Pokémon per team is four. In the future, this will be expanded to six. Your Pokémon may work alone if you so wish, and cannot be on multiple teams at once.

Can I collaborate with friends to form a team?

Yes, you may form a Collaborative Team at any time so long as they’re from within the same Faction. Similarly, you can collaborate with any number of teams and people to participate in events.

Is there a limit to how many Teams I can have?

No, there is no limit to the amount of Teams you can have in the group.

Can an Outlaw become a Lawmon and vice-versa?

Yes. With a purchase of a Faction Change Token, your Pokemon may change Factions but there is a story/art requirement attached that must be fulfilled before it goes through.

FAQ: Pokémon

How does Evolution work?

All Evolutions are done with a purchase of an Evolution Token. In the world, Temples of the All Creator have a special room filled with Evolution Items that your character is granted access to use in exchange for the Evolution Token.

How do(es) X Pokémon work in the group?

For explanations on how specific types of Pokémon (shapeshifters, ghost-types, psychic-types, Smeargle, "artificial Pokémon", and more), see the Pokémon Restrictions | Artificial Pokémon and More journal.

Can Pokémon Dynamax, Mega Evolve, or use Z-Moves?

Pokémon cannot Dynamax and they will not encounter Dynamaxed Pokémon within Tremel. Tremel does not have the special properties required to allow for it to happen.Mega Evolution is possible so long as they have a Mega Stone Bracelet equipped and are able to Mega Evolve. Mega Evolution can only be used once per Mission, Event, and other Activities. On very rare occasions, Mega Evolved Pokemon may appear but those who can in Tremel are numerically few, numbering in the hundreds at best.Z-Moves are usable so long as they have a Z-Stone Bracelet of the matching type to the Pokemon equipped. Z-Moves can only be used once per Mission, Event, and other Activities.

What are Modified Pokémon?

Modified Pokémon are characters who are Delta-typed, Fusions, and/or Mages.Delta Pokémon are Pokémon who have a completely different type makeup. For example, a normal Beedrill is Bug/Poison, while a Delta Beedrill can be Steel/Poison. When created, Delta Pokemon can have 2 moves not of the original moveset of that Pokémon that match the Delta typing. For the example previously stated, all Steel-type moves (except legendary moves) would be available for the Beedrill to learn alongside its original moveset.Fusion Pokémon are Pokémon who are made up of two different Pokémon to make an entirely new one. An example is merging Pikachu and Eevee to create a hybrid that now is Normal/Electric type. Fusion Pokémon are the only ones in the group that can have three types maximum. Ex: Fusing a Charizard with a Spewpa to have it be Flying/Fire/Bug. If the character is a fusion of two dual-typed Pokémon , you choose which type to discard or keep.Fusion Pokémon can have moves from either species they originate from as well as TM/HM, Move Tutor, and Z-Moves.Mage Pokémon are Pokémon who are adept at magic and can tap into the Ley Lines of the world to use spells, charms, and other such. While not a true rarity in Tremel, as most Mage Pokémon do not even know they have such powers, those that do are still rather uncommon.

How do I handle a Modified character?

At any time use a Fusion Orb/Delta Shard/Elmheart Certificate on your characters as long as you have acquired them legitimately. There is also no exclusivity in modifications, so your character can be all three at once.If desired, you can revert your character from being Modified as well. This a free option that can be done at anytime through the Brave Bird Messengers.

FAQ: Activities

Can I have multiple teams participate in an Event?

Yes. Make sure to pay attention to the Faction-specific prompts for each event if your Teams are in different Factions.

Can I challenge one of my own Team in a 1v1 Heist?

No. This is done to prevent any sort of currency grinding and unfair play within the activity. It would also be unfair to those who cannot otherwise find a pairing in the 1v1 Heists.

Can I do past Missions/Events?

Yes, this is allowed but submitting a late entry to these past Missions/Events will only grant your Character a Bronze Medal for participating and you cannot obtain any Special Rewards for completion, only the normal rewards.

What are the prerequisites to earn rewards from Missions?

For Missions, there is a minimum of 3 non-sketch (lined and colored) art pieces or 3,000 words total to qualify for completion bonuses. Other events have no minimum unless otherwise specified. This is to encourage participation in Missions, which determine story elements for each Faction. It also means those who work hard do not feel like they are scammed by those who do very little and get the same rewards.

Is there a grace period for Missions/Events?

For Missions, grace periods usually last one to two weeks long. Be aware that if you are submitting during the grace period, the points gained from works towards your Faction total are halved. There are no grace periods for other Events.

How long do Missions/Events last?

Missions can last from one month long to three months long. Most Events will usually last one month long. Special Events may last longer or short than this, depending on the circumstances.
